Since the date of the first administered vaccine in Jersey on 13 December 2020, how many Hospital Admissions, including Emergency Admissions, occurred within 28 days of the admitted persons receiving a Covid-19 vaccination?
Since the date of the first administered vaccine in Jersey on 13 December 2020, how many Hospital Admissions, including Emergency Admissions, have been directly correlated to complications caused by the Covid-19 Vaccine?
From 13 December 2020 to the end of June 2021, 355 individuals have been admitted to Jersey General Hospital within 28 days of their first dose of Covid-19 Vaccination and a further 254 have been admitted within 28 days of their second dose.
These numbers are for emergency admissions only and therefore exclude patients who attended for an elective procedure or regular treatments (eg in the oncology or renal departments). In addition, in answering this question, no account has been taken of the patient’s diagnosis. The numbers also only show individuals so do not count if an individual has been admitted on more than one occasion. This is an estimate based on matching data extracted from EMIS (the clinical IT system used for patient records) for the purposes of administering the Vaccination Programme to TrakCare (the clinical IT Patient Administration System) for the hospital admission data.
For data that has been coded to date, there have been less than five admissions to Jersey General hospital in this time period, where an adverse reaction to the vaccine has been noted. Due to the small number of cases, disclosure control has been applied to avoid breaching the privacy of individuals involved. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied.
The clinical code U07.7 is used to classify an adverse reaction to the Covid-19 vaccine. This code was introduced on 1 February 2021 and is only allowed to be assigned to admissions with a discharge date after 1 February 2021. Prior to this date, there was no code available to show that any condition directly resulted from Covid-19 vaccination.

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
