Please confirm that the preliminary results of the 2021 Census will be made available to the public no later than January 2022, ie nine months after the Census Date and if not the reasons and the proposed date for the release of this information.

Response

The Statistics Jersey publication release schedule states that for the 2021 census individual bulletins are provisionally due to be published in Q1 - Q2 2022. As with previous censuses, the 2021 Census results will be published as a sequence of reports - the actual publication dates of which will be added to the release schedule nearer the time. The first release will cover population by age, sex, and Parish and so on; this will be followed by thematic reports (eg, Labour Market). As the provisional publication information is publicly available, Art 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied. Please see the following link:

Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
