Construction site fires (FOI)

Construction site fires (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 11 November 2021.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

How many fires have you attended in the past year within buildings that have been under construction / within the construction industry?

How many of these fires were caused by 'hot work'? (welding, cutting, soldering and any work that involves an open flame).

What kind of hot work was involved?

Were there any injuries, casualties or fatalities involved?

What kinds of buildings were involved?

The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service only record data on the building type (for example hotel, residential, hospital), unless being ‘under construction’ is relevant to the cause of the incident, this will not be recorded. Our records indicate one incident of this type in the past 12-month period.
