Request

Please can you tell me how many arrests under anti-terrorism laws were made by the States of Jersey Police in the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?

Response

We have interpreted this request to mean arrests made under Article 37 of the Terrorism (Jersey) Law 2002. This Article relates to an arrest, where a police officer has reasonable grounds to suspect that person of being a terrorist. To disclose this information would identify police related counter-terrorism activity, which could adversely affect the ability of the States of Jersey Police and others to safeguard national security. This request is declined and Article 27 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article applied

Article 27 -National security

(1) Information which does not fall within Article 26A(1) is absolutely exempt information if exemption from the obligation to disclose it under this Law is required to safeguard national security.
