I would like to know he nature of the complaints made within the last 18 months against the ophthalmology department at the Jersey General Hospital.

Response

From 1 August 2020 – 25 February 2022 Ophthalmology received a total of 26 complaints. The nature of the complaints were as follows

  • 12 related to appointments
  • 5 related to staff attitude, behaviour and communication
  • 9 related to the care received.

Data cannot be further broken down as this would mean disclosure of small numbers, and as such this will impact on the privacy of individuals. Therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
