I refer to the response from the Health Minister to this written question:
"The Wessex Foundation School recently undertook a routine monitoring visit of the learning environment for junior doctors in JGH. The visit took place remotely and the visiting team were able to speak with our foundation doctors. Their report highlighted improvements required in junior doctor rota management and supervision and escalation in one department, with some further recommendations made. HCS was already aware of these issues from feedback received from the doctors and was open with the Wessex Foundation School about these matters prior to the visit, advising them of the plans HCS had to address them. The plan to address these concerns has identified the actions required and, in the immediate term, arrangements are in place to remedy
and support trainees, sanctioned by the Medical Director. The visiting team also highlighted several areas of good practice across JGH."
Please provide a copy of the report produced following the visit, and a copy of HCS' remediation plan.
B
Further to this, please provide the date(s) of all Wessex Foundation School visits over 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and their purpose(s), as well as whether a report was produced. If so, please provide copies of these reports.

Response

A
The report produced by the Wessex Foundation is attached.
Redactions have been made where exemptions to the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 apply, and for ease of reference, have been colour coded:
Yellow Article 25 (personal information) applied to protect the privacy of individuals.
Blue Article 26 (in confidence) applied as disclosure would breach the confidence of those that contributed to the review.
B
Visits are not annual events, and as such the last informal visit was in early 2020. This visit did not generate a report. There were no visits in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The visit in 2022 took place on 24 January.
