Refusal to attend Les Quennevais School (FOI)

Refusal to attend Les Quennevais School (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 01 June 2022.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I would like to know exactly how many children are currently refusing to attend Les Quennevais School at the moment in particular with regard to Years 10 and 11 and if the majority is due to mental health issues.

Response

The Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 gives people the right to request information that is held in recorded form. School attendance is recorded in line with Department for Education’s absence and attendance codes. Refusing to attend is not used as an absence code, neither is it information held in a recorded form by the school. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

Article applied

Article 3 - Meaning of "information held by a public authority"

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –
(a) it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or
(b) it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
