Please can you confirm how many bikes have been reported as stolen to the police from 1st January 2019 to 31st May 2022.

Can you confirm how many bikes have been found/ no longer listed as missing on the police database.

Can you put this data in a table showing the figures month by month and if possible include what parish they were taken from.

Response

A search of the States of Jersey Police's crime records on larceny of pedal cycles, TADA (taking and driving away) pedal cycles, and break and entry or illegal entry offences that involved the theft of a pedal cycle have produced the below information.

To determine how many stolen pedal cycles have been subsequently found or no longer missing would require a manual inspection of each record. We estimate that approximately 3 minutes per record would be required to do this, and this means that around 22 hours would be required to undertake this section of the request. This would exceed the 12 ½ hours maximum time limit as provided by Article 16(1) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, and a response is declined.
