Pier road car park video recording (FOI)

Pier road car park video recording (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 24 August 2022.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I would like to receive the video recording of level 1 for the Pier Road car park. The date and time for that video recording is 5th October 2021 around 10.10 (morning) and 10.55 (morning).

This video recording would show that I parked my car [redacted] there and I scratched and displayed my paycard.

At around 10.55am it should show my car going forward and backward and showing me showing my paycard to the video camera. I need that proof for the magistrate court.

I believe the Sand Street car park office has that video recording.

Response

The footage recorded by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system in Pier Road car park is retained for approximately 31 days before it is automatically overwritten in accordance with the Transport section's Car Parks CCTV policy.

Therefore, Article 10 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, applies, since the requested footage is not held.

Article applied

Article 10 - Obligation of scheduled public authority to confirm or deny holding Information

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), if –

(a) a person makes a request for information to a scheduled public authority; and

(b) the authority does not hold the information, it must inform the applicant accordingly.
