Response

In Jersey, cervical screening is provided by Health and Community Services (HCS) and through GP practices. GP practices are private businesses and, as such, the data for their activity is not held by HCS. As HCS do not have a central record of all activity for the island, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies to questions A, B, E and F.

The Cellular Pathology Department of Jersey General Hospital processes cervical screening test samples. HCS can provide the data held within our Pathology system as follows:

C

The table below details the number of cervical screening tests received into the Cellular Pathology Department for each quarter of 2021 and the first three quarters of 2022.

Cervical screening tests are not simply a positive or negative result and therefore, the result data has been broken down into two categories. Data is available for each quarter of 2021 and the first three quarters of 2022. Table D.1 details the number of tests returning a 'High risk HPV detected' result and Table D.2 details the number of tests where a comment has been entered related to 'Cytological pattern'.
