Request

Commercial premises: What hours will you attend site based on just a phone call from the ARC so no confirmation of fire?

Residential Premises: As above when will or won't you respond based on an unconfirmed phone call from the ARC?

Response

During High-Risk periods

If the Caller/Occupier/alarm receiving centre is unable to ascertain the cause of the alarm either an enhanced pre-determined attendance emergency response for high-risk premises or a standard pre-determined attendance emergency response for all other premises will be mobilised to the premises.

High Risk Periods are defined as

  • Evenings and Night-time: Between 19.00 and 07.00 hrs
  • Weekends/Bank Holidays: All day and night

During all other times.

Special Risk Premises

If the Caller/Occupier/alarm receiving centre is unable to ascertain the cause of the alarm a Standard Fire Alarm Pre-Determined Attendance Emergency Response will be mobilised to the premises. The caller will be informed that “an emergency response is being made” and asked to call back if cause of automatic fire alarm is either a fire or a confirmed false alarm.

A “Special Risk Premise” is one which whose use means that a high potential life threat is present.  Such premises include:

  • Hospitals
  • Residential Care Homes
  • Nursing Homes
  • Major risk site (i.e., La Collette fuel sites, Jersey Airport, Jersey Gas sites, Normans Five Oaks, States buildings)

All other premises

If the automatic fire alarm is received from the alarm receiving centre, they will be asked to try and contact the affected premises to obtain information. They will be informed that “No response is being made unless confirmation is received that there is a fire” and that they should call back by dialling 999 to inform if there are any signs of fire.
