Children needing speech and language support:

A

For each quarter, from Q1 2018, please provide a table showing:

  • Child’s age (0-18)
  • Number of children in that age group to receive any form of speech and language support during the quarter

B

For the first day of each quarter, from Q1 2018, please also provide:

  • Average waiting time for an initial assessment for people aged 18 and under
  • Number of people aged 18 or under waiting for an initial assessment 
  • Number of speech and language therapists employed

Response

The table below shows the count of unique individuals seen by the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service in each quarter from January 2018 by age band. Each individual is counted once only per quarter. Age recorded is that at the time of the appointment.

The figures do not include clients aged 18 seen by the Adult Speech and Language service.

Where numbers are small, disclosure control has been applied to protect the privacy of individuals and numbers fewer than five are represented as ‘<5’. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.

3)      In determining for the purposes of this Article whether the lawfulness principle in Article 8(1)(a) of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 would be contravened by the disclosure of information, paragraph 5(1) of Schedule 2 to that Law (legitimate interests) is to be read as if sub-paragraph (b) (which disapplies the provision where the controller is a public authority) were omitted.
