Jersey has a restricted/’white’ list of medicines (called the Prescribed List) that are available in the community at no charge to the patient. Medicines are added to this List by Ministerial decision, typically following recommendation by the Pharmaceutical Benefit Advisory Committee (PBAC). Applications to the PBAC are received from healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care and recommendations made based on consideration of evidence of quality, safety and efficacy. NICE Technology Appraisals (TA) are considered as part of this process but there is no funding mandate in Jersey primary care for medicines supported by a NICE TA.

Minutes of the Committee meetings are not subject to publication as they comprise the formulation and development of policies and publication would hinder the free and frank discussion of the subject matter. Article 35 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Amendments to the prescribed list as a result of the PBAC meetings are published via a Ministerial Decision.  In respect of the last two meetings, the Ministerial Decisions can be viewed in the following links:

Prescribed List as at 1 December 2022 (gov.je)

Amendment to the Prescribed List: 1 October 2022 (gov.je)
