In 2021 the Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel and Health and Safety Inspectorate undertook reviews into the Medicinal Cannabis Industry.

A

I would like to know if the States of Jersey Fire Service has undertaken a review of the fire safety risks involved with this industry?

I would also like to know whether they were asked for a consultation before any of these sites were approved for this industry due to the fact it may involve the use of highly flammable solvents close to residential properties? and if so which sites.

A

Jersey Fire & Rescue Service (JFRS) have not been requested to conduct a review into the fire safety risks involved with this industry.

B

Jersey Fire & Rescue Service (JFRS) hold no records of being involved in any consultation regarding approval of these sites. These types of premises do not fall within a ‘designated use’ in accordance with legislation regulated by JFRS. JFRS are also not designated consultees with regards planning applications for such sites made under Planning and Building legislation.
