Health and Community Services staff vacancies (FOI)

Response

There was an increase of 119 Whole Time Equivalents (WTEs) in the funded establishment of Health and Community Services (HCS) from October 2022 to May 2023, rather than 119 additional posts.

Much of the increase in WTEs relates to changes in the hours available for some posts, and through extra posts in existing roles, particularly in the areas of Nursing (nurses and midwives), Medical (all doctors), and Healthcare Assistants, as per the second table of the previously published Freedom of Information response referenced.

Similarly, increases in existing roles were seen across Allied Health Professions (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Biomedical Scientists, Radiographers, Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, and so on.), as well as in non-clinical staff required to support the clinical services.

Please see the table below for post titles and grades of roles where funded establishment increased in the intervening period, including posts re-allocated or introduced to the HCS funded establishment:

Increase to HCS funded establishment since October 2022.pdf

Identifying the increase in funded WTEs required reconciliation of the complete staffing establishment for the two months, and has utilised the full time allocation allowed for Freedom of Information responses. Providing the information requested in respect of recruitment status of any new posts as of 01 July 2023 would require further interrogation of datasets and systems, and would exceed the timescales prescribed in the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Therefore, Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article applied

Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
