Prosecutions for not having valid television licence since 2018 (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 23 October 2023.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

Please advise how many cases have been successfully prosecuted by the Jersey Courts since 2018 to date, for failure to have a valid television licence?

Response

Successful prosecution is not the role of the Jersey Courts; rather the role of the Jersey Courts is to administer justice. Further information regarding TV licensing enforcement has been provided in response to a Freedom of Information request published on 9 October 2023 which is available in the following link:

Television licencing requirements (FOI)

There have been no prosecutions brought to the Jersey courts in the past five years for failure to have a valid television licence.
