Following the recent refusals for planning permission for the 1,000 homes on the Waterfront and the development between Broad Street and Commercial Street which was refused by Deputy Jeune please advise the following:-

A

How much was the overall and specific costs to the taxpayer for each project?

B

Did those proposing the developments meet with the people who refused the permission prior to submitting plans to find out what was likely to be permissible?

Response

A

The Government of Jersey does not maintain a record of staff time costs in relation to individual planning applications since this is considered to be business as usual.  Therefore, this information is not held and Article 10 of the Freedom of information (Jersey) law 2011 applies.

The Government of Jersey used external Contractors for each project costing a total of £3,500.

B

Information regarding meetings with the persons who refused the permission prior to submitting plans, is not held and Article 10 of the Freedom of information (Jersey) law 2011 therefore applies.

Article applied

Article 10 - Obligation of scheduled public authority to confirm or deny holding information

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), if –

(a) a person makes a request for information to a scheduled public authority; and

(b) the authority does not hold the information, it must inform the applicant accordingly
