Speed checks in Rue des Pres (FOI)

Speed checks in Rue des Pres (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 19 April 2024.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

Please advise how many speeding prosecutions and speed checks have occurred on Rue des Pres, St Saviour, JE2 7QL between 2020 and 2023.

Response

There is no central States of Jersey Police record to indicate that officers have been directed to conduct speed checks on Rue Des Pres, St Saviour. However, officers on patrol may, at their own discretion, set up a speed check on an “ad hoc” basis. In such cases records of speed checks would be held in the officers’ pocket notebooks.

With over 100 response officers, even estimating 30 minutes to scan through their notebooks for the last four years would far exceed the cost limit of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, and a requirement to undertake this activity is therefore exempt from disclosure.

However, regarding speeding prosecutions, the table below presents incidents occurring on Rue des Pres, St. Saviour, JE2 7QL between 2020 and 2023 and the results:
