Response

A

As at 12 March 2024 there are 12 Government of Jersey staff employed to run the sport facilities based at Fort Regent.

The staff operate on a rotating shift pattern, meaning there are only ever four staff on duty at once.

B

The following table provides the total operating costs for the years 2022 and 2023, this is net of operational income received and total running costs including the Government of Jersey sports staff:

Fort Regent Net Operating Costs

YearCosts (£)
2022
125,473
2023 (estimated)221,452

An estimated figure has been provided for 2023, which was calculated using actual costs of the previous year (2022) plus an uplift to account for inflationary costs.

It has been estimated that to extract an accurate cost figure would exceed the 12.5 hours allowed for Freedom of Information responses in accordance with Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied.

C

However, the estimated Fort Regent sports staff cost for 2024 is £677,000.

It should be noted that the Fort Regent sport staff are on two-year fixed term contracts.
