Request

If someone has a lasting power of attorney for an individual, but will be away from Jersey during the first 6 months of the year, what provisions are there for online submission of tax returns for the individual?

Response

Online tax returns for personal income tax are currently available to individual taxpayers who are capable of filing personally or who file through an approved tax agent.  Those with lasting power of attorney for a taxpayer will normally be expected to file a paper tax return by 31 May.

Individuals facing difficulties in meeting their tax obligations should make early contact with Revenue Jersey to discuss available options to assist them.  The best way to make an enquiry is to use Revenue Jersey’s online form: responses can usually be provided within five working days.
