Speeding and road traffic collision data (FOI)

Speeding and road traffic collision data (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 02 June 2016.

Request

I have received FOI data regarding speeding along Vallee des Vaux, but this data has come from police speed checks. May I have the data (most recent will suffice) from the static speed indicator devices (SID) that have been used and not the hand held police checks.

I also asked for road traffic collision data. Can I have the data which shows accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles along the valley.

Response

The States of Jersey Police do not hold the information requested. Speed indicator devices are operated by individual parishes, not by the police. The requester has been advised of this.

There have only been two road traffic collisions involving cyclists during the period from 2014 to 2015. There have been none recorded involving pedestrians and motor vehicles or cyclists.

In 2014, a cyclist fell from their cycle when footwear, tied and hanging from the handlebars, became entangled with the front wheel. The rider suffered grazes to the arm and hands.

In 2015, a cyclist lost control and collided with a wall. No other vehicle was involved. A visit to the Accident and Emergency Department indicated no significant injuries.
