Response
It is assumed that this request is seeking information about the engagement of archaeologists.
The Place and Spatial Planning team in the Cabinet Office has not secured the specific services of Jersey-based archaeologists directly as contractors or consultants.
Through a service level agreement (in place pre-2015-2022); and then a strategic partnership agreement (2022-to date), managed by the Place and Spatial Planning team in the Cabinet Office, Jersey Heritage provides historic environment services to the Government of Jersey.
This includes an assessment of the heritage value of buildings and places which may have archaeological value. This advice is provided by Jersey-based archaeologists employed by Jersey Heritage.
Similarly, under the terms of this agreement, Jersey Heritage also monitor archaeological fieldwork as part of the regulation of development activity undertaken through the planning process. This service is also provided by Jersey-based archaeologists employed by Jersey Heritage.
