3. Consultation and Policy
Has the Government of Jersey or any educational body in the island ever consulted with alcohol industry representatives or received input from industry-funded organisations in the development or delivery of alcohol-related education?
If so, please provide dates, details of the organisations involved, and the nature of the involvement.
4. Future Commitments
Are there any current or planned measures to ensure that alcohol education in Jersey is free from commercial bias and rooted in independent, evidence-based sources?
Response
1. All Government of Jersey Schools have confirmed that they do not use industry-funded materials, programmes, lesson plans, presentations, or external resources that are produced, funded, or sponsored (in whole or in part) by alcohol industry entities or affiliated organisations.
2. There are no formal procedures, including guidelines, committees or protocols in place for screening of educational content for potential conflicts of interest, specifically regarding corporate influence from alcohol-related industries. However, Government of Jersey Schools will ensure that all materials used with pupils are age and content appropriate.
3. There are no records of any consultations having taken place. Therefore, Article 3 is applied as the department does not hold this information.
4. CYPES will continue to work with schools in support of high quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum content through non-statutory guidance and will continue to develop school networks where teachers share and create appropriate resources and content.
