How many cancer clusters in Jersey have been investigated to establish a causational link? Please provide detail of any cancer clusters investigated to include; the number of cases, the cancer type and the location on the island.
Response
In 2012, further to concerns raised by a member of the public of a possible cancer cluster, the Medical Officer for Health instructed analysis to ascertain if there appeared to be any unusual patterns in the number of people affected or the types of cancers diagnosed and to determine if there was any evidence pointing to a cancer cluster. No evidence of a cancer cluster was identified within the cohort.
The summary report provided to the Medical Officer for Health is attached. Personally identifiable information has been redacted, in line with Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 to protect the privacy of individuals.
