What percentage of GoJ currently employed staff are “Managers” or “Team Leaders” and of those how many manage or lead teams with fewer than 5 subordinate employees?

As of 1st July 2025:

Total managers with direct reports: 1,419

Managers with fewer than 5 direct reports: 859

Note: Some of these 859 managers may still hold significant indirect managerial responsibility, such as overseeing teams through their direct reports (e.g., Heads of Service who may have 4 direct reports, but those direct reports have a large number of staff reporting to them).

The above figures exclude any employee on a zero-hour contract, or where their FTE = 0. The data also exclude all non-states workers and any staff not on our payroll. The data is based on Managers and Direct Reports as set up in the system, rather than on job titles. The data is not held in a percentage format and can therefore not be presented as such. ​​
