I would like to do know to date, how much many the States, and in particular The Health Department and Public Health Department have spent on vaping research, including surveys, allocation of wages towards staffing, digital resources creation eg web page and social media, paid advertising (meta and google ads), and any other financial spend.
I would like to know the total financial spend on the vaping awareness campaign.
Response
Records for Health and Care Jersey, which encompasses Public Health as of January 2025, identify the following spend:
2024: £ 1,920
January to July 2025: £ 6,333
No expenditure has been identified prior to 2024.
Staff time is not recorded against or billed to particular projects within Public Health, and therefore, no salary costs can be attributed to such work.
Similarly, the Help2Quit service may provide information or support to those who smoke tobacco and who want to use a vape to do this, but this would be an intrinsic part of the service offering with no distinct costs.
Health and Care Jersey do not hold financial data for other Government Departments. Therefore, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies in respect of any charges billed to Government services outside of Health and Care Jersey.
