Could you please provide data on the following information:
- What percentage of children under the age of 5 in Jersey are currently vaccinated against measles?
- How does this compare to previous years? Could you please provide a breakdown for children under 5 vaccinated against measles for each year since 2015.
- What percentage of vaccinations against measles in the past year have been the combined MMR vaccine? What percentage have been measles, mumps, and rubella separately?
- How does this compare to previous years? Could you please provide a breakdown for combined/separate for each year since 2015.
Response
Vaccination uptake figures are reported annually by Jersey’s Public Health Intelligence team. Annual figures are currently available to report up to 31 December 2024.
Data for vaccinations from 2015 to 2023 are available in the 2023 Immunisation Report published to www.gov.je in October 2024:
Immunisation Report 2023.pdf
Data for 2024 will be included in the next iteration of the report, though it is recognised that there is a public interest in reporting this information ahead of the scheduled publication date, in consideration of recent cases in the U.K.
In line with the U.K. childhood immunisation programme, children in Jersey receive the MMR vaccine as part of the routine vaccination schedule:
• MMR1 (First dose): offered at 12–13 months of age.
• MMR2 (Second dose or booster): offered at 3 years 4 months of age.
Uptake is typically reported against the following milestone ages:
By age 2:
• Percentage of children who have received their first dose (MMR1) by their second birthday.
By age 5:
• Percentage of children who have received their first dose (MMR1) by their fifth birthday (captures delayed or catch-up vaccinations).
• Percentage of children who have received their second dose (MMR2) by their fifth birthday.
This reporting approach aligns with national guidance in England and allows monitoring of both on-schedule and catch-up vaccination uptake.
As of 31 December 2024, 95.9% of children had received one dose of a measles-containing vaccine by their second birthday. By age five, 96.6% had received their first dose of the MMR vaccine (MMR1), including those who may have missed or delayed vaccination at age two, and 93.6% had received the second (MMR2) booster dose.
The attached table details the percentage uptake of the MMR vaccine in Jersey for each calendar year since 2015, showing the uptake of the first dose (MMR1) by age 2 years and age 5 years, and the second dose (MMR2) by 5 years of age.

In Jersey, children are routinely vaccinated using the combined MMR vaccine, in line with national immunisation guidance. Single antigen vaccines (i.e. measles, mumps, or rubella given separately) are not routinely offered. Parents wishing to pursue single-dose vaccination may arrange this through private providers. As information on vaccinations administered as combined versus single-antigen vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella is not held in a reportable format, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
