- Please can you share the number of recorded incidents of violence against staff in accident and emergency (A&E) units in Jersey General Hospital from 2019 to July 2025.

- Please can you also breakdown these numbers by type of staff role from 2019 to July 2025.

Response

As of 15 August 2025, a total of 33 incidents of violence (physical abuse / aggression) towards staff have been recorded as occurring in the Accident and Emergency Department, from 2019 to date.

​Incidents may be logged by someone other than the target of the abuse. The incident log captures the staff group or designation of the person reporting the incident, but does not include a field option to identify the staff group / role of the target of violence, and this may not be clearly stipulated by the person reporting. As such, it is not possible to report figures for violence by staff role of those involved out of the incident reporting system.
