For each of the last 5 years (including 2025) please provide the number of people under 25 who have commenced employment for the states, by department.​

Response

The attached table shows the number of new starters under 25 years of age at the date of joining, whether on a fixed term contract or permanent contract. The figures exclude anyone on solely a zero-hour contract. The departments for 2020 – 2024 have been mapped against the 2025 structure, to allow ease of comparison between years. 2025 data is up to and including 18th August 2025 and is as such not for the complete year. It should be noted that any agency staff are excluded from the figures as they are not States of Jersey employees.

Where numbers are small, disclosure control has been applied to protect the privacy of individuals and numbers fewer than five are represented as ‘<5’. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and
