What was the volume (loudness) of the fire service sirens in 2010 and what is the current volume? Has the procedure or guidelines around when it is appropriate to use fire service emergency sirens changed between 2010 and 2025?

Response

The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service (SJFRS) do not capture data associated specifically with siren volume. Therefore Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied. There has been no amendment/revision to the guidance on when it is appropriate to use audible and visual warnings as part of an emergency response.

Article Applied

Article 3 - Meaning of “information held by a public authority"

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –
(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or
(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
