Request 749741360
This request is in regards to the court case AG v Carr + Sevash-Zade, being held in the Parade, as opposed to the Royal Court.
Please could I get a breakdown of costs for the following:
1. How much did it cost to turn the third floor of the building used for the trial, into a suitable court area?
2. Can you break down the cost into how the money was spent: i.e. for instalment of technology, cost of using the building and cost of anything else?
3. How much money was spent on flights/accommodation for family members of the Filipino workers, killed on the L'Ecume vessel, to attend the trial?
4. Which department/s funded the cost of this trial?
Response
1. The Judicial Greffe does not hold details of the costs of adapting the 3rd floor area at The Parade to a court. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
2. The Judicial Greffe have been responsible for the following aspects of preparing for the trial:
a. ensuring the installation of audio recording technology.
b. Setting up of the Greffier’s workstation
c. Setting up of the video link meetings
Costs that the Judicial Greffe have incurred are not known as no relevant invoices from suppliers had been submitted at the time the request was received. Article 3 also therefore applies. (Please note Judicial Greffier staffing costs are not directly associated
with particular trials).
3. The Judicial Greffe do not hold details of how much money was spent on flights/ accommodation for family members and Article 3 also applies.
4. The Bailiff’s Chambers, who are not Scheduled Public Authorities under the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, have funded the majority of the costs for this trial.
