Please can you share the number of Islanders who started university this year?
Can I also get a total for the amount of grant funding offered?
Please compare those figures to previous years (2020 onwards)
Clarification requested
The department does not hold the number of islanders who started university this year, only the number of university students applying for student grant funding to attend university. Please confirm if you would like this figure?
Regarding the total for the amount of grant funding offered, is this a total of all student grants in all years of study or only for those starting university this year?
Following the above clarification, please confirm which data sets you require from 2020 onwards.
Clarification response
To clarify, yes I'd like the figures for the number of university students applying for student grants this year.
Regarding total funding, this is also a request for those starting university this year.
However, please compare both of those data sets to every academic year since
2020.
I hope that's satisfactory.
Response
The table below provides the number of university students applying for student grants from the 2020/21 academic year through to 2025/26 and the total funding of those grants from the 2020/21 academic year through to 2024/25. *Information in relation to the funding costs for the 2025/26 academic year is not currently available as not all applications have been finalised. Therefore Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 is applied in part.
