Request 760296134
I am writing to request information regarding standby duty payments made across the Jersey public sector in the calendar year 2024. Specifically, I would like to request the following:
Total amount paid in standby duty payments by the States of Jersey Police.
A breakdown by role or grade (e.g., paramedic, firefighter, police officer, technician) where available.
Clarification on whether these payments were:
Included in base salary
Paid as separate allowances
Subject to any caps or limits
Response
A breakdown is provided in the attached table. These figures are in addition to base salaries, are paid as separate allowances, and are not subject to any caps or limits. Standby payments are limited where vital 24/7 cover is required. Several other specialist roles also provide 24/7 without attracting any standby payments. In these circumstances, officer goodwill and availability are relied upon. No separate allowance is provided to officers of the ranks of Chief Inspector and above.
