Please note the category “Failure to Appear" refers specifically to warrants for arrest issued by a court when an individual does not attend a criminal court hearing that they are required by law to attend. The majority of these cases relate to arrests ordered for failure to appear in the Magistrate's court having been summoned to appear in relation to unpaid parking fines. This power to order an arrest for failure to respond to a summons is provided under Article 20 of the Criminal Procedure (Jersey) Law 2018, and Article 77(2) of that Law allows the court to set a sum of money to be paid as security for future attendance at court instead of executing the arrest of the subject of the warrant.
Please note the category “breaches" refers to warrants for arrest issued by a court because of a person's failure to comply with conditions of bail or probation.
