How many people of pensionable age and over are receiving the Home Carers Allowance?

Response

There are currently 18 people of pensionable age who are receiving Home Carers Allowance (HCA).

This number only includes people who were a carer before reaching pensionable age and have chosen to stay on HCA after pensionable age.

Individuals typically make this choice because they do not have a full pension record and HCA provides them with more income. This is a concession that is unique to HCA. All other working age contributory benefits stop when someone reaches pension age.
