Regarding the newly refurbished Rayner Outpatients Clinic at the Hospital, can you please confirm only those whose biological sex is female (female at birth) will be treated/admitted.
Response
The Rayner Outpatients Clinic and the Women's Health surgical floor provide specialist gynaecology and women's health services; access is based upon clinical need and the type of care required, rather than biological sex alone.
- Gynaecology Outpatients (Rayner Outpatients): Anyone who has a cervix, including women assigned female at birth and individuals who have transitioned from female to male, will be seen in clinic for relevant conditions, such as reproductive health concerns, pelvic pain, or menstrual disorders.
- Women's Health Area (Rayner Ward area / Women's Health): Individuals who are female, or who identify as female (including those who have transitioned), are cared for in this area. Side rooms are available to ensure privacy, dignity, and appropriate support.
As with all hospital areas, care is delivered in line with equality, safety, dignity, and privacy standards, ensuring that all patients are supported appropriately and facilities are used safely and respectfully.
