A request to ascertain how many adults have a learning disability in Jersey. To include age brackets and levels of need (usually between 1-4). 

Response 

Health and Care Jersey (HCJ) does not hold information on the number of people with a learning disability in Jersey. Only the number of people known to HCJ's Adult Learning Disability Service can be reported from records held, which is not representative of the total number of people with a learning disability. 

295 individuals are known to HCJ's Adult Learning Disability Service.

​HCJ do not hold information on the level of need for each individual. Therefore, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies. 

Information used in assessing Long Term Care entitlement, such as an individual's level of need, is managed through Employment, Social Security and Housing.

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.​​
