Request 768445728
I would like to request a statistical breakdown on the number of illegal cannabis seizures (herbal and resin) made by Justice and Home Affairs from 1st January 2019, to the date of this request.
I request that the data be broken down by:
1. Year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 year-to-date).
2. JCIS (Customs & Immigration) - Number of seizures made at points of entry (Airport, Harbour, Post Office).
3. Weight: The total weight of cannabis seized per year.
4. Count: The total number of individual seizure incidents per year.
Response
Seizures of cannabis made by the Customs and Immigration Service are shown in the following table.
| | No. Harbour Seizures | No. Airport Seizures | No. Post Office Seizures | Total Weight per year (grams) | No. Seizures per year (all locations) |
| 2019 | - | - | - | 71,300 | 76 |
| 2020 | 2 | 1 | 150 | 6,194 | 157 |
| 2021 | 2 | 0 | 111 | 4,060 | 122 |
| 2022 | 5 | 2 | 55 | 3,826 | 64 |
| 2023 | 2 | 3 | 40 | 16,384 | 54 |

| 2025 (to 22/12) | 8 | 2 | 31 | 23,557 | 48 |
2019 figures for seizure location are no longer recorded in a reportable format.
Note that 'all locations' seizure data includes seizures made elsewhere than at the harbour, airport or post office.
