Request 774345505
I would like to know:
- the passenger usage statistics for each bus route on the Liberty bus network for the previous 13 months.
- the reason that Diesel buses were selected as part of the new bus contract and why electric options were not selected.
- whether the Government have budgeted for the electrification of the bus depot and which year this will take please.
- when the next batch of buses will be purchased and what criteria will be used for this purchase.
The number 1 bus route had larger Enviro 200 buses under the previous operator.
Why has the current operator never implemented larger buses on this route?
What is the plan for double decker bus procurement?
Response
Passenger usage statistics for each bus route on the Liberty Bus network for the previous 13 months is not held in a recorded form that could be exported, and to respond to this request would require extraction and manipulation of data to produce new information. A Scheduled Public Authority is not required to manipulate and create new data sets; Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 therefore applies.
Regarding “reason that Diesel buses were selected as part of the new bus contract and why electric options were not selected “, this information is not held in a recorded form, therefore, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies. However, further information relating to the reason that Diesel buses were selected can be found within the link below:
2025 Bus Operator Contract
No, there is no budget for electrification of the bus depot.
Next batch of buses will be purchased by Liberty Bus, based on the same criteria set out in the 2025 Bus Operator Contract.
The current operator is restricted under the P30 licences applied to the vehicles; further information can be found in the below FOI:
