2)

As at 17 August 2016, 17 prisoners are serving their sentences in the UK as transferred prisoners. Each prisoner’s circumstances may differ, some may be returned to Jersey to finish their sentences; others may complete their sentences in the UK and will be discharged from a UK prison.

Since the introduction of the Repatriation of Prisoner (Jersey) Law 2012, the States of Jersey Prison Service has repatriated seven prisoners. Once repatriated, prisoners become the responsibility of the receiving country and so we will have no records of those currently serving or who have been released.

3)

The cost of UK transfer prisoners will vary depending on the establishment they may be resident at. The total cost of repatriation for 2015 was £111,041.18. Jersey does not pay for the ongoing management of repatriated prisoners.
