Properties adjacent to the sea wall (FOI)

Properties adjacent to the sea wall (FOI)

Request

How many property owners since the year 2000 have had to pay the ‘public’ a consideration to be allowed to keep a property / wall as constructed when it is less than the common law distance of 2ft 9ins from the interior face of the sea wall?

Please if possible give me the property(s) address and the amount paid.

Response

Since the year 2000 there have been five properties in separate ownership that have been the subject of compensation claims by the Public as a result of encroachments over the Public's property, namely the seawall (between Havre des Pas and Pontac) and the Foreshore.

Copies of the relevant contracts, that provide further information, can be found in the Public Registry.  The "Public Registry Index and Document Enrolment" (PRIDE) system can be accessed either at the Public Registry, in the basement of the States Building, or the Jersey Archive.
