Response
Employment, Social Security and Housing (ESSH) has interpreted your request as seeking recorded information showing the cost to the public purse for the years 2022 to 2025, in relation to social housing and homelessness.
Following reasonable consideration, ESSH does not hold recorded information that directly quantifies overall expenditure in this form. Income Support expenditure and other payments are not recorded in a way that identifies accommodation costs for social housing or homelessness-related provision.
In accordance with Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, a public authority is required to provide access only to recorded information that it holds and is not required to create new information or carry out analysis to produce figures that are not already recorded.
However, to assist you, the following information published online may provide relevant contextual information:
- Homelessness quarterly reports - contain high-level information on homelessness but do not provide a definitive or comprehensive breakdown of associated costs.
- Income Support accommodation distributions (OpenData) - illustrate the distribution of Income Support payments but do not identify accommodation specific costs or expenditure attributable to social housing or homelessness.
- Income Support expenditure dataset and narrative - outline the methodology for calculating Income Support and explain why expenditure cannot be directly attributed to accommodation costs.
- Historic States Assembly Written Question - included for contextual reference only and should not be relied upon as current or complete data.
This information is provided for transparency and contextual understanding only and should not be interpreted as constituting the specific expenditure information requested.
