Vehicle inspection failures for excessive exhaust noise from 2021

Could I request and FOI to capture the number of vehicles that failed an inspection by the DVS for exhausts that exceed the legal decimal regulations going back to 2021, noting the breakdown by year.

Response

The Scheduled Public Authority (SPA) does not record the number of vehicles that failed a DVS inspection for exhausts that exceed the legal decibel regulations, therefore, this information is not held and Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a) it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b) it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
