My request is as follows:

A

Please disclose the salary of the Chief Fire Officer;

B

Please provide a breakdown of all benefits, fees, allowances, bonuses, relocation payments and private medical insurance payments for the Chief Fire Officer in the last financial year. In providing the breakdown please disclose the type of benefit, allowance etc. and the cost;

C

Please disclose the value of pension contributions for the Chief Fire Officer in the last financial year

D

Please disclose the total amount claimed in expenses by the Chief Fire Officer in the last financial year;

E

Please disclose whether the Chief Fire Officer has a car provided and, if so: the model of the car, it’s purchase price or the hire/rental cost;

F

Please disclose the number of days’ holiday taken by the Chief Fire Officer in the last financial year

Response

Due to the information requested, Exemption 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to this request, and will not be supplying the actual information, however a broad salary range is being provided along with details of benefits the Chief Fire Officer receives.

All responses relate to 2015 

A

The basic pay range for the Chief Fire Officer is £95,000 to £105,000.

B

The Chief Fire Officer has access to medical, dental and ophthalmic and related benefits in accord with the Fire Service arrangements that apply to all firefighters.

C

Pension contributions are paid by the Chief Fire Officer in accord with the pension scheme arrangements for uniformed services, which is 5% of their pensionable salary.

D

The Chief Fire Officer claimed no expenses during 2015, nor any expenses relating to relocation.

E

The Chief Fire Officer had use of but not exclusively the Fire & Rescue Service fleet vehicle, which is a Honda Civic, purchased by the department in January 2009 for £12,000. This is now a general Fire Service Vehicle.

During 2015, the Chief Fire Officer took on the additional role of Emergency Planning Officer, and has the use of a Skoda Yeti which is shared with the Assistant Emergency Planning Officer which is leased through Jersey Fleet Management at a cost of £373 per month.

During 2015, the Chief Fire Officer has contractual leave of 28 days & 8 Bank Holidays.

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
