There were 42 crimes committed that involved a knife in 2025. Please see attached Table(1) for the requested breakdowns. Where the outcome is recorded as “No Further Action”, this indicates that the States of Jersey Police have determined that there is either insufficient evidence to proceed, the complainant has withdrawn their complaint, or that pursuing a prosecution would not be in the public interest.

For context, 32 such offences were recorded in 2023 and 51 in 2024. Knife-related crime in Jersey remains relatively rare. The introduction of the Crime (Public Order) (Jersey) Law 2024 reflects a proactive and preventative approach to maintaining public safety and ensuring the Island remains well positioned to address emerging risks.

It should be noted that recorded offences involving a knife can vary significantly in both type and severity. Approximately 65% relate to threats with or to use a bladed article, and just 20% involve the actual use of a blade. Only 9% of these incidents involve more serious offences such as slashing or stabbing.

In addition, 12% of knife-related offences are linked to drug-related crimes, with most of these involving threats rather than actual use.

40% of crimes related to a domestic relationship.

Where numbers are fewer than five, disclosure control is applied to avoid identification of sensitive information of individuals. Article 25(2) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
