Please can you provide the following: 

1. The number of patients diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) by the Neurology Department at Jersey General Hospital in the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026? 

2. The number of patients with FND receiving treatment/or other related support from the Neurology department at Jersey General Hospital in the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026?

Response

Health and Care Jersey (HCJ) do not hold a central record of the number of people with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder, and therefore, are unable to provide data on diagnosis rates or the number of patients receiving care through Neurology each year.

Whilst information will be available within individual medical records, identifying the cohort of patients in scope of this request would require manual interrogation of case notes for all people under the care of Neurology in each year to extract the requested information. Such manual examination of records would exceed the timescales prescribed in the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Therefore, Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
