Having started initial searches in respect of your FOI request, some information is already in the public domain as provided below and as such Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 is applied. Would you like us to fill the gaps of that information not provided below?

If so, could you also please clarify how you want the results ‘broken down’. Is this by Subject, Grading or both?

Yes, I noted some academic years' worth of results are available on the College's website, but I would like the full years' span's worth (2014-2025) per GCSE & A Level Subject and Level 9-1/A* downwards, please.

The breakdown of GCSE results for the 2014-2022 academic years and A Level results for the 2014-2021 and 2025 academic years, in percentage terms by grade and by subject for Victoria College can be found in attachments 1 and 2.

The Scheduled Public Authority (SPA) has determined that to disclose small numbers would likely breach the privacy of individuals and therefore disclosure control is applied under Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 Law, as follows:

• ​Where the number of grades achieved is fewer than 5, the percentage has been replaced with "-".
• Where the total number of entries is fewer than 10, this is indicated on the table as ‘<10’. This has been applied as where there are less than 10 students taking a subject, the individual figures which are then represented by a ‘-’, are all small and could still lead to identification. 
• Where there is one undisclosable number in a row, rather than redacting the entire row, we merged the small number with the larger number in the adjacent cell.

Articles Applied

Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.

(3) In determining for the purposes of this Article whether the lawfulness principle in Article 8(1)(a) of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 would be contravened by the disclosure of information, paragraph 5(1) of Schedule 2 to that Law (legitimate interests) is to be read as if sub-paragraph (b) (which disapplies the provision where the controller is a public authority) were omitted.

However, having waited the full 4 weeks plus 1 extension week, please may I enquire why 2023 & 2024 are missing from the GCSE data, and 2022, 2023 & 2024 from the A Level data?

I am actually more interested in the most event years’ data.

I have actually been able to track down via Google and a previous FOI request made by someone else, the following:

Both of the immediately above say 2024 GCSE but there is a discrepancy in the % for level 5.

Also, how come the % breakdown for French & Spanish results is missing at A Level in virtually all Years reported on?

I can see 2022-2024’s A Level results (2024 showing 0 French & Spanish):

This internal review has been conducted by an official of appropriate seniority who has not been involved in the original decision. As part of their review, they will be expected to understand the reasons behind the original response, impartially determine whether the response should be revised, and how so, considering the request and the information held, any relevant exemptions, or other relevant matters under the Law.

The Internal Review Panel was asked to review the original response and confirm the following: Does the FOI request relate to a body to which the Law applies, or information held by a body covered by the Law?
