In June 2026 in Dermatology 143 patients were seen for their first appointment. How many of them were seen by a Consultant Dermatologist, how many by a Locum Consultant Dermatologist, how many were seen by a GP working at the Dermatology Department and how many by a nurse there? 389 patients attended their follow up appointment in June. Please provide a similar breakdown into patients seen by a Consultant, GP or nurse.
Question 2. In June 2026 there were 247 new referrals and 143 new patients seen during June. Does it mean that the hospital waiting list on the 1st of July should be 104 patients longer than that from the 1st of June? Thank you
Response
Data for new (first) and follow-up public Dermatology outpatient appointments attended in June 2026 are provided in the table, broken down by staff group designation.
Figures relate to the number of public outpatient appointments attended rather than the number of individual patients seen. Where an individual has attended multiple appointments within the reporting period, each attendance is counted.
Figures are presented using the staff group categories recorded within the Electronic Patient Record system; GP is not an option available to report. Additionally, records held for the staff group associated with each appointment do not distinguish between substantive Consultant Dermatologists and Locum Consultant Dermatologists.

The waiting list is a snapshot of patients waiting at a specific point in time, whereas referrals received and first appointments attended are measures of activity that occurred during a specified timeframe.
Patients may be added to or removed from the waiting list for a variety of reasons, including:
- referral validation
- duplicate referrals being identified and removed
- referrals being redirected to alternative pathways
- patient choice
- clinical decisions, and
- other administrative or data quality processes.
Net changes in the waiting list between two snapshot dates will reflect all additions and removals that occurred during the period. For this reason, while 247 new referrals were received and 143 patients attended a first outpatient appointment in June 2026, it does not necessarily follow that the waiting list increased by 104 patients.
