Please could you help us with the following;

1. Does your organisation permit or undertake endotracheal intubation following return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) without the use of induction or paralytic drugs? If so, under what circumstances?

2. Please provide details of any policies, procedures, clinical guidelines, governance arrangements, training requirements, or oversight structures relating to this practice.

3. How frequently has this practice been undertaken within your organisation during the last five years? If available, please provide relevant activity data.

4. Has your organisation published, presented, or otherwise disseminated any information relating to this practice, including research, audits, evaluations, conference presentations, reports, or grey literature? If so, please provide copies or links where available.

This is a service evaluation across all ambulance services looking at pre hospital intubation post ROSC.

Response

1

The States of Jersey Ambulance Service (SoJAS) does not currently permit or undertake endotracheal intubation in any circumstances.

2

The SoJAS Airway Policy references the organisation’s stance on endotracheal intubation. Personal identifiers of certain named staff have been redacted in line with Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011. Names of senior SoJAS staff identified in Health and Care Jersey’s organisational structure are disclosed.  The policy is available at States of Jersey Ambulance Service Airway Policy V1.1 (Redacted)

3

No endotracheal intubation has been undertaken by SoJAS clinicians in the last five years.

4

No information other than the above linked Airway Policy has been produced.  Article applied
