Response
Annual data for primary diagnosis codes attributed to all cases of admitted patient care, from 2018 to 2025 (inclusive), are provided in Table 1: ICD diagnosis codes and annual admission Counts. Where numbers are small, disclosure control is applied to protect individuals from identification, and Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to protect the privacy of individuals.
Annual data for procedure codes attributed to all cases of admitted patient care, from 2018 to 2025 (inclusive), are provided in Table 2: OPCS procedure codes and annual admission counts. The count includes codes assigned at point of care, such as in Theatres, and codes attributed through official Clinical Coding at discharge. Where the same procedure code has been assigned multiple times, each is counted; a procedure may be repeated in a single instance of care.
Where numbers are small, disclosure control is applied to protect individuals from identification, and Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to protect the privacy of individuals.
Codes in OPCS Chapters Y and Z have been excluded, as these are not procedures in themselves; these codes simply add qualifying detail to another procedure, such as the method of operation, site or laterality of the operation.
A small number of data errors were returned (0.003 % of diagnosis codes and 0.01 % of procedure codes); these have been excluded from the data.
Clinical Coding of a patient’s admission is carried out after discharge from hospital. Data are not yet complete for the whole period requested, and subsequently, figures may be subject to change as Clinical Coding of admissions continues and completion levels increase.
